JESSICA'S JOURNAL

Inspirational Word: YOU can't overcome my strength! Judges 16:6 and Psalms 118:14 (NLT)So Delilah said to Samson, "Please tell me what makes you so strong and what it would take to tie you up securely." The LORD is my strength and my song; he has become my victory. Sometimes people are trying to learn your secret. They want to figure out how to break you down. They want to know what button to push. People think that they can develop the Kryptonite to subdue you when they know your weakness. SHOW them where your strength comes from. When you live the life of a Child of the King, they will quickly realize...THERE IS NO KRYPTONITE!

BYRD'S WORD

These days in time seem like they are getting worse by the second. The generations ahead of us are in serious turmoil and it needs to change immediately. There have been so many killings in Chicago the past 2 years it's a shame. 37 public school kids gunned down, and even more under the age of 21... we really need to break the cycle on how things are happening. Step up and speak to the kids, speak via music, editorials, news, put it in their faces so they have to see that they need change!

I gotta let you know that its my time to go, if you dont want to let me live then you have to let me go. Because this world can't give everything I need to know, so I can free my mind and release my soul. The winter so cold and the summers so warm, the days so short and the nights are so long, The streets are so hot that our kids cant play because they may get grazed by a stray from a gun. The fiends cant wait to shoot death in their arms, smoke a lil something or snort a lil something, and the gangsters outside going hard with the bomb, buck a lil something and dont give a f*@# about nothing. And the young boys are hustling, hot girls bussing(down), old men hawking trying to cut a lil something, so they do a lil something dont use a lil something and now the girls in the clinic saying she got something. And the next dude shes with, nah she dont use nothing, shes out there humping and shes passing it on, with no hesitation making sure she pass it along, and to the next generation well be passing this on. Infatuation with the streets, standing out there with heat, on the corner pumping D getting em on, until the cops coming with the sweep, or they get into some beef, and they peeps is deceased and they'll be passing them on. And folks be telling me leave it alone, but how can I let this be when Im seeing this all? And something keeps on telling me speak to them all, and try to guide them out this violent place that we call home. Because how many more mothers have to get that call, that their kid was found shot on the corner of a block, man this cycles gotta stop before we kill us all, and it starts with hip-hop because we all that they got!!!

I put it all between these lines this is more than just a rhyme, this is more than what these rap dudes call your grind, this is our pain and soul this is our life and times, these the things that we know and these too are the signs. Somethings gotta change because the times are so rough kids cant grow up and try to make a change, because their minds are so stuck on trying to make change, in the process they either get shot or locked up. And trust, nobody comes to visit when you locked in a prison, they give no soup to the ones in the hospital beds, you turn into a number going in and out of the system, and they dont bring flowers to the ones thats dead. They pop shots at the ones that killed him instead, and say its retaliation but its annihilation, just going along with the nations plan at hand, every generation raised with a gun in their hand. Kill dude over there is what you hear from your man, but thats the same dude that will kill you for a grand, because you got it and he dont have it up in his hand, I aint preaching I'm just speaking to you please understand. Because I want young folks to have a change of plan, so changed my heart, I put yall in my heart, and then I gave my heart to all yall on this record, this is my responsibility as a man. Because who would I be if I dont help them out, Id be worse than the ones who want to keep them in, this was beating on my heart please let me out, and I cant find it in my soul to be keeping this in. Like Kirk Franklin say just let it all out, and the sweet breathes of life take them all in, pray for the ones in prison when they let them out, that they dont fall victim and go right back in.

How many have to go before we all realize? That we as black folks are our own damn demise. I see it every time I look into a babys eyes, that this world doesn't care where the future of him lies. His mama's welfare is where his future lies, she aint working hard she aint trying to do her part. And that right there in where the spirit in him dies, he gotta work twice as hard just to try to make his mark. But they tell him be quiet every time they hear him crying, they dont know his heart and they dont know his mind. Just because he's 5 you dont think he sees signs, that his pops dont care and his mama aint trying? So they baby keeps crying cause hes letting it out, his mama beat him to death saying he stressed her out, now shes locked in a prison and they aint letting her out, and her other 2 kids just got left without... A pops to be there, a mama to call on, a brother to grow with, or a place to call home. And foster care is who the state gonna call on, the 2 kids are separated and now the familys all gone. And this is so wrong, but it does go on, and it dont touch you, until its near home. But before its near home just stretch your faith long, and try to bless another soul who has to take on. A pain like this one, cause pain dont get one, it takes about 2,3,4,or 5. And cancer gonna get some, and AIDS gonna get some, so were left with about 2,3,4,or 5. So we fight just to live for the rest of our lives, but half die with the quickness of the blink of an eye, so we better get right within the blink of an eye, cause the next time you blink we wont be alive!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BYRD'S WORD

THIS IS IN REGARDS TO WHAT HAPPENED THURSDAY 3/19/09

Well I decided not to write this last night because if I would have it would have been a note with a million obscenities and a few words in between. So today after I had a chance to think about things I am able to write this with a level head.As many folks know because of how we publicized we had a show last night to determine to see if we place for a year long tour around the country. 1st thing 1st... they had the event @ a place called the Swagger Lounge and they said to bring people because the crowd was judging... that to me was the 1st indication it was bullshit. If you are selecting folks for a tour I think skill and talent SHOULD play a part. Any bum ass nigga can bring a lot of people and get to go, but when he's out there on tour those people he brought to auditions don't count for shit! He will get booed! So whatevers whatever... we played by the rules and invited a billion people (those of you who didn't come and claim to be supporters is another blog) so... en route to the event, I get a text from an unknown number with and address 4310 S. Prairie, I replied "who's this" they replied "the show has moved to 4310 S. Prairie"! I didn't wanna believe they were saying this 20 mins before doors open so I replied back "the show has moved?" And they never replied again! The was the 2nd line of bs... sidebar: Me and Chi-Leak called it early and said we feel the bs in the air. For the 3rd line of bs... we get to the spot and its the size of my basement (no lol). 4th line of bs was it was a poetry set and they just tossed the show on the back end of that event. 5th line of bs was there were auditions held in feb. And 15th finalist to go for the top spot but they were still signing people up??? In real life! 6th line of bs was the spot only held 75 people... PF3 alone had way more than 75 people I had to go outside and turn people away. 7th line of bs was they told us it was a show, so we prepared for a show, last week they said we can only do a song so we prepared for that, and right before they started our segment they said 1 verse and a hook... in real life??? 8th line of bs... after us bringing all the people out, they said they were videoing and the chick throwing the event would review the tapes and pick (sidebarS: she wasn't there, that was the same thing we did at the 1st event, and we didn't even have to bring all these people out). 9th line of bs... they let 4 people of the 15 go... then shut it down talking about postponing... WTF!!!! In REAL LIFE??? LIKE THAT'S THAT YOU SAYING? We had so many people come, I apologize to you all that came, to those that didn't, miss me with that I couldn't make it shit! My man Chi's parents came from Aurora to support us! It was the most disappointing thing ever...But I thought about it... and I don't blame anyone expect the people behind the business aspect. I feel bad for all artist who came out and participated. So with this being said... this note is about the Chicago Music Scene and why we will never blow...1. People don't know how to do business2. Its all politicsAnd that's as simple as it gets. I was pissed and still am, but it lit a fire under me to hustle harder than I ever have... so with this said... this is my farewell letter to the Chicago music scene... my new home WILL be LA later this year! I love y'all who support us from the bottom of my heart... but we have to leave... sorry!
